This con was much earlier this month, but better a little late than never! For the first time ever, I volunteered onto the staff along with
and my mother, who's been the Stitch Witch (Cosplay repair) for the past few years in this convention and A-Kon, and oooooh
boy I have every intention of coming back on staff for many years to come 'cause it was soooooo AMAZING!!! The whole Cosplay department crew was an absolute delight and we all settled at the end of the convention we would be the core of this department for the next few forevers!
Day 0-1
Me and Stitch Witch here were thrilled to get going as soon as we got our badges, but that was Thursday night...... needless to say we didn't bring the gear up!
Next morning all three of us had to get up there by 7AM to get our Cosplay Hospital set up and it took two bloody hours!! Why it took so long? The last convention the hotel had left all their garbage in our room, but since cosplayers are a lovely, opportunity-taking bunch, the cardboard, foam core board, and styrofoam were scavenged within an hour! XD By the time we were ready people were lined up at the door waiting for our help already and so Friday began! Safety and bobby pins abound!!!
Me and my sister topped Friday off by the Caleb Hyles concert and his short-notice autograph session right after!!!

Day 2
Started a little late cuz Sis' new puppy needed to be taken to her babysitter, then we were off to Dallas! Saturday was the day of the Hall Cosplay contest so there were TONS UPON TONS of people who needed repairs, even putting themselves together right before their turn with the judges! We had a guy even come in and build his OC's sword on site! At the same time, I made a little girl a hot pink sword so her very first anime convention would be one to remember, her dad kept thanking me so much
!!! My favorite cosplay of the day was this beautiful Mami Tomoe from the mobile Madoka Magica game while my Inuyasha trash mother found her a favorite bae of the day! XD Dinner was happily had at our new favorite pizza place in the Plaza of the Americas and it just so happened at that time the prisms on the walls were making the most beautiful rainbows, and of course my amazing prism child need to bathe in the light!
Day 3
This was the day, the final day, and time for the Cosplay Contest! We were hectically busy from dawn to midnight and couldn't be happier about it! We had to tear down the cosplay hospital right before the contest, so we implemented the most advanced style of pool floaty deflation technology, as shown above~ Before that though, more pizza was had and it poured LITERAL WATERFALLS from the Plaza roof right where we could see it from inside and it was gooooorgeous! Contest time and no sooner had me and sis stepped in the door, we were put to work! Hot glue and tape was flying, scalps were stabbed with bobby pins, and by far my favorite but toughest repair of the night came when a poor, poor soul tore his pants from bow to stern..... I won't say much more details than this, it would've made an interesting Gangam Style parody video! We were called Cosplay Angels and Saviors with Thread by the time we made it through the line!
In the End....
I will admit it, it was the most satisfying and exhilarating feeling to watch all these people go around the convention with costumes on that our team fixed, knowing that they were only able to keep going as complete and happy as they were because the Cosplay Hospital was there to help. People begged us to come back next year because of it, and you better believe that we will! I wouldn't give this up for anything!
Every attendee was fantastic and so well mannered, I never heard a single mean comment or saw anyone being mean to anyone else, so much better than A-Kon, but helping SteamPunk November there was amazing as well!
Next Convention - Midwest FurFest here I come!!
